About BARCROSS

A map of every bodyweight skill, five grades that mean the same thing everywhere, and a sport built on top of them.

The map

BARCROSS starts from the progressions chart that bodyweight athletes have shared for years and turns it into a skill tree: 331 moves in 28 chains across six realms, from the lever and the muscle-up to the handstand, the planche, the dragon flag and the pistol. Every move has a standard to meet and a grade, so you always know what the next step is and what owning it looks like.

The grades

Five chalks, White to Red. A move's grade says how hard it is. Your chalk says what you have proven: every marker skill of that grade, earned in order. White is finishable on day one. Red asks for the full front lever and the full planche. A judge can certify your chalk from one clip, against the written standard, on the public record.

The training

The sessions are built from your own tree: three pairs of strength work and core, on a rep ladder that climbs one rep at a time until a move is owned. Log a session and the ladder moves. Mark a skill and the tree lights the road behind it. Your life in bars keeps every week on one grid.

The sport

BARCROSS is also a race: calisthenics racing, solo or duo, where the clock only stops when you hold your shape. The grades are the same five chalks, so a result means the same thing on every bar in the world.

The founding story is a family argument that never ended: Two Gates. The idea behind it is in the manifesto.

How it's run

  • Free to train, forever: the tree, the sessions and the life grid cost nothing and need no account.
  • Local-first: signed out, your training data stays in your browser.
  • No ads. Money buys a judge's time, and Pro keeps the platform independent.
  • Global by design: the standards are written once and apply on every bar.

Questions

Is BARCROSS free?

Yes. The whole skill tree, every session mode and the life grid are free, with no card and no account needed. Certification costs money because a judge reviews your clip, and Pro is an optional subscription that moves your clips up the judging queue.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works signed out and saves in your browser. Signing in keeps your progress safe and syncs it across your devices.

What equipment do I need?

A bar you can hang from covers most of the tree. Parallel bars or two sturdy chairs open up dips, and rings unlock the ring chains. Many moves, from push-ups to pistols, need only the floor.

Where does the skill tree come from?

From the progressions chart maintained by the r/bodyweightfitness community, extended with standards for every move, the five grades and the session engine. Each guide credits it.

How does certification work?

You film the marker skills of a grade and submit one clip. A certified judge checks it against the published standard and returns a verdict, with written reasons for any no-rep. A pass puts your name, grade and date on a public card.

Is there an app?

BARCROSS runs in the browser and installs like an app on phones and desktops from your browser's menu. There is nothing to download from a store.
